Between 1st December 1555 (the date of Torlioni’s contract) and the 31st October 1556, Paolo Veronese executes the three grand masterpieces on the ceiing in the nave (on map from n°1 to 3).

These paintings depict stories from the biblical book of Esther, the Jewish hereoine that during her exile saved her people from the fury of the Persian king Assuero and from the Minister Aman’s conspiracies: The Repudiation of Vashti, Esther crowned by Ahasuerus and The Triumph of Mordechai.
