AUTHOR: Andrea Meldolla known as Schiavone
CENTURY: XVI°
CHURCH: Church of San Giacomo dall’Orio
POSITION: choir, central section (on map n° 1)
METHOD: painted on panel
This work, with the others of Schiavone, were realised during the first half of the XVI century, during the general restoration of the church.
It seems plausible that the work was inserted in a gilded gold wooden frame that, starting from the choir, winds along the walls of the nave and the presbytery.
During the same restoration period other works by Schiavone are present: the other two sections of the choir represent The Martyrdom of St James and The Preaching of St James; the two paintings on the side of the portal depict King David and the Elderly King David.
Some of these works are dated around 1532.
