The altar was erected by the request of Domenico Moro and is dedicated to St Bernardino. It conserves the remains of the devoted fifteenth-century doge that wished to be buried barefoot and with a Franciscan wardrobe.
The altar barriers were excavated, while the step under the altar has been done with a technique called niello (ornamental engravings enhanced with black fillings) a technique that can be seen in the center flooring frame, and the twisted decorations recall the central octagon of the façade.
