ALTAR OF SAINT AUGUSTINE

Rich in sculptural decorations, the altar has, between the two pairs of columns, the statues of St. Peter on the left and St. John on the right; in the upper order, on the top of the columns, there are Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel and Ezekiel, even more above Baruch and Hosea. In the center there is an altarpiece depicting Saint Augustine, the Eternal Father, Saint Mary Magdalene, Saint Catherine, Saint Stephen, King David and Saints, attributed by some to Gerolamo Gambarato and by others to Sante Peranda.
